What is the saddest thing you've ever seen?

 I was scrolling through my Instagram feed when I stumbled across this post.

The caption read, “ Shahban Aslim, who had built his dream book store in Gaza by starving himself, laments as the building is razed to the ground by an Israeli airstrike. The bookstore was the largest in Gaza. As the tattered books lie in the rubble, Aslim tells the bookstore was not merely a means of livelihood, but ‘a dream.’”

Imagine starving yourself to save every penny earned in order to open your dream bookstore. Some nights Aslim must have spelt hungry because he knows that a penny saved is a penny earned.

In front of his eyes, his bookstore demolished, his dreams shattered, and his source of income was obscured. He sees no hope…after all he worked towards his dream and kept himself motivated to only see his bookstore collapse one day.
